This piece illustrates the influence of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the impact his faith, and leadership has made among different races and cultures. Unity is paramount in this piece and is shown in the diverse crowd of twenty-two people marching together. The American Flag is pointing upward towards heaven to signify the importance of spirituality in unifying all people. “Kingdom Movement” was created to communicate that a higher power is central to moving the hearts of men.

The wearing of the inner armor of salvation, righteousness, truth, spirit, faith and peace to protect oneself against the chaos of the world. A steadfast but peaceful countenance exudes from the face of the subject as he draws his strength from within.

He now has no shame and no regrets. Forgiven and blameless, he exudes a very tangible freedom and a quiet power. The softness captured in the figure and his clothing through the layered use of graphite pencil depicts a relaxed yet dominant individual. The large areas of white left in the background allude to this freedom. He is a new creature, blameless in the sight of his creator. 

The sitter’s name is Nicholas Briley. He is a 6’5" humble giant, who’s calm demeanor and modest attitude made him the perfect subject to explore this concept.
